“WHOOPS. I did it again”. I offended one or two people, Again. Lawyers of all the people. Yup. That’s me, going around offending people. Its kind of becoming a habit. But I still insist it’s a nice habit. Just like the nuns in their habits. They mean well. Don’t they? The problem is I can never be a nun. See, that will create anatomical problems. Even worse, it will confuse my already confused daughters as to the sexuality of their paternal guardian.

Well what happened is, I got an invitation to the launch of Global Rights Alliance at the National University of Ireland, Galway. For the benefit of President Bush, POTUS as he is lovingly referred to by his friends, Galway is a beautiful city in the West of Ireland, hugging the coastline. Its in Ireland, which is not a Wet continent (his reference to Africa as the dark continent) and no, it is not part of England. It’s a vibrant city full of joys of life. Ever evolving, ever expanding and never dull. It has an acquired taste which is easy to get addicted to. The said alma mater has a thriving population of young and the youthful burning the candle at both ends. I believe some of them are burning their candles in the middle too. No one will begrudge them the vices of the youth and the exuberance of the lifestyle they are pursuing. I was young once. Ah! Those were the days.

The joys of getting old. Its so easy to get distracted. So the poor things invited me. What a pleasure to meet and address the Educators, the educated and the one’s who probably can never be educated. Just a joke folks, please do not take offence. Upon my arrival, I found out that I was due to speak for ten hours, sorry ten minutes about father’s rights. Well no one told me. Whatever transpired, blame Andrew. In future he will be wiser, for now he is educated. Never ever keep me off the leash. I did not know where to start, but once I started I honestly cannot remember what I spouted. I addressed the issue in hand to the best of my limited abilities. Most applauded, some complimented, one took offence to my criticism of lawyers, but thankfully we parted as friends. The poor things have to put up with my mutterings again this evening. I have to speak and address the issue of father’s rights and the family court system. I am actually looking forward to it. Fore warned is fore armed, I think that is how the saying goes.

Deputy Higgins was kind to me and agreed to meet with me next week. He acknowledged the problems I had referred to and believes the issue of father’s rights is a huge conundrum that needs attention before it spirals completely out of control. At the said gathering what I found slightly confusing was as to how quickly offence can be taken. I merely stated the truth about the way lawyers operate, the lack of proper legislation, the flawed application of the constitution and much more. As politely told, I was deemed to be attacking the legal profession and some of the lawyers present had done a lot of work for the cause of human rights. I was advised to admonish the politicians, for it is their fault that such anomalies exist in our family court system today.

Something to amuse you folks. As I pointed out to the young man, the existence of a dozen or more high profile politicians who actually are qualified lawyers, solicitors and barristers for that matter. Then he counted for me another handful who actually are in ministerial posts. See another foe became an ally. You can challenge truth, try to hide it, run rings around it but eventually it will catch up with you and bite you right up your jacksie. Now that’s what I call a prophecy.

Please tell me I have no reason to be confused. The dilemma I face is, the lawyers blaming the politicians who happen to be lawyers, so what shall I talk about and who shall I bring to task? I think sometimes even lawyers get caught in their own argumentative web and really do lose touch with reality. Occupational hazard I suppose. Now let me add to your confusion.

The Irish constitution states that “All citizens shall, as human persons, be held equal before law”. No gender bias, I take it, literally. People, political correctness was known to us Irish long before the loony lefties in the UK hijacked it. I knew one day I will get an upper hand on the Brits. So please help, legally or literally. Why is it taken for granted that the best place for the child is with the mother, irrespective of her ability, demeanour, lifestyle or her wishes. Does equal mean when it suits the Judge or when it suits the lobbies who seem to have every government of recent times by their unmentionables. Boy, do I need help. Sedatives keep wearing off, the tranquilizers are ineffective and the grey matter is turning a funny shade. All my common sense has taken leave, as now I am more confused than ever.

The constitution states one thing, judges judge differently, lawyers argue for the sake of argument and the Minister/politician/ lawyers find it all very amusing. I am sorry, did I miss something.

One question though and its open to everyone. I have to earn my keep, so do you. Now be honest, after reading the above, pass a judgement  based on the facts as they have been presented to you. How many of the above mentioned have earned their keep? I think we are all enjoying this game of judge and jury. This is the way the game is played and we are playing it by their rules. So come on, let me have your judgement.

That’s what is sad, our lives have become pawns in a game of power and money. So what else is new, I hear you scream. Well the difference is you are the actors in this live show of persecution. You and I are being treated with utter contempt, our rights are being trampled upon and the incompetent and the impertinent are becoming richer and more powerful. What we do and what we say is in your lap. But remember, If you do not take charge of your life and your mind, someone else will. Oh that reminds me. Is there not an election just around the corner? Now there is something to think about.

All I am thinking about is what happened to the meek inheriting the earth. Do I have enough grounds to bring a case against the almighty? Legal advice. Anyone.
