Martin

Martin's daughter means everything to him
When Martin came to us for counselling in 2007, he was in despair. His former wife, who suffers from alcohol dependency and has a history of physical aggression, had custody of their nine year-old daughter. Martin was worried for them both. With counselling, he learned for the first time how to approach – and what to ask of – the statutory childcare services.
Martin secured the services of a child psychologist, who has helped his daughter deal with her emotional problems. Martin has been awarded custody and he is hoping his wife’s health will soon improve well enough for the whole family to have a better relationship.
He calls the charity regularly to say how good life is for him now and he is a different, stronger man to the one who came to Families, Fathers and Friends nine years after the breakup of his marriage.
